VISION AND OBJECTIVES

The 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan of the Local Government Unit of Buenavista Guimaras formulates the vision and objectives of the municipality.

VISION

Buenavista shall be a garbage free municipality, clean, healthy, and a conducive place to live in, with an environmentally friendly community by 2015.

  1. To institutionalize functional Municipal Solid Waste Management Board and all Barangay Solid Waste Management Committees.
  2. To establish a strong linkage with NGA’s, Provincial Government of Guimaras, NGO’s/PO’s and private sectors in the implementation of Buenavista Ecological Solid Waste Management Plan.
  3. To establish a Municipal Redemption Center to assist barangays to market their reusable and recyclable non-biodegradable waste.
  4. To encourage and support entrepreneurs utilizing solid waste for their  livelihood.
  5. To instigate a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at the Municipal level by 2005 and six (6) Barangay Solid Waste Management Committees by succeeding year.
  6. To encourage and support farmers and households to engage in organic farming using bio-degradable wastes.
  7. To encourage people’s active participation in planning, monitoring and evaluation toward sustainable implementation of the program.
  8. To institutionalize proper solid waste management as a way of life of the residents of the Municipality of Buenavista.
  9. To ensure strict and proper implementation of existing Municipal Solid Waste Management Ordinances to support the effective Solid Waste Management Program of the Municipality.
  10. To implement and manage an eco-park system in disposing residual and special wastes.
